Macclesfield – x4 days on-site / x1 remote Your Company Macclesfield Campus is approx. 100 acres with around 4500 people working on site. The site hosts Operations, R&D, G&A, IT, and others. Facility Management includes Campus Project Solutions (CPS), which delivers engineering capital projects across the site, ranging from refurbishments to new constructions and upgrades. Your New Role As Cost Engineer, you will support the Engineering Project delivery team with project lifecycle activities related to cost management, cash flow, capital funding, and SAP reporting. You will be the main contact for SAP/CATs and Capital Approval System queries and will interface with Finance for financial reporting. Manage cost engineering for the Minor Works Portfolio, approx. £2m annual spend across 200 projects. Superuser for registration of new projects in the Capital Approval System (CAS). Register and report projects into CAS. Implement Project Work Breakdown Structures in SAP. Support overall project and portfolio budgets, ensuring cost capture aligns with AZ procedures and SAP. Track expenditure, drive cost accuracy, and support timely reporting. Manage CATS in SAP and validate actual costs to develop accurate estimates. Review project cost performance against Baseline, identify trends, and advise on overspend. Produce monthly AFC reports for AZ Finance. Support project cost baseline changes and conduct variance analysis. Manage and update project budgets in SAP, and create purchase orders using COUPA. Provide depreciation reports to Finance and assist with closure analysis. Essential Skills Honours degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business-related subject. 5+ years of bio-pharmaceutical experience. Knowledge of project management frameworks, engineering project processes, and best practices. Knowledge of business decision-making tools, capital investment guidelines, and contractual agreements. Understanding of SHE standards, CDM requirements, and risk management. Desirable Skills Professional qualification (e.g., RICS, Assoc. Cost Eng.). 10+ years of cost control experience. Knowledge of Cost Centre management and operational models at AstraZeneca. Strong technical background in engineering principles and lifecycle asset management.
