Lead Therapist (Inpatient Orthopaedics, Major Trauma and Amputees)

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the MSK inpatient teams as a Lead Therapist. The successful applicant will lead on the ongoing support and development of MSK AHP in-patient staff and pathways to deliver high-quality care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing operational and governance processes within the Orthopaedic, Major Trauma, and Amputee teams at the Northern General Hospital. They will use leadership skills and work collaboratively with staff and teams to enable services to deliver effective care.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is a regional trauma centre providing specialist MSK services to patients from across the region. The post holder will work with a talented and diverse therapy team and wider MDT to continue the ongoing development of services. They will work closely and collaboratively with the Clinical Service Manager, Clinical Specialists, and Lead Therapists. Within the role, there will be opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge and support ongoing professional development.

This role is mainly non-clinical, with a small proportion of clinical work. The role includes participation in the weekend working roster.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Accountable for operational management of a group of staff and the services they provide within a Clinical Directorate.
2. Responsible for providing day-to-day operational management of services.
3. Responsible for staff management within a designated team.
4. Provide governance leadership for a designated team and ensure staff compliance with mandatory training.
5. Lead the implementation of service improvement and modernisation across MSK Therapy with support from the Clinical Services Manager.
6. Responsible for delivering high-quality specialist therapy to patients.

MSK Therapy provides integrated Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy to the MSK Care Group at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Pain Management, Metabolic Bone, Hand Centre, MSK Therapy, and Podiatric Surgery.
