Norfolk SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) provides confidential and impartial information, advice and support about special educational needs & disabilities (SEND) for children, young people, parents and carers, to empower them to play an active and informed role in issues relating to their education and care.
The service plays a crucial and impartial role within the Local Authority in promoting the active participation of children and young people who have SEND and their parents/carers in issues around SEN and disability. SENDIASS works with parents/carers, children and young people as well as education settings, keeping channels of communication open, and ensuring SEND support is in place.
To increase our reach and ability to support parent/carers of children and young people with SEND we are looking to employ a part time SENDIAS Advisor.
As a SENDIAS Advisor you will hold a high caseload, providing free, impartial and confidential information, advice, support via casework and where appropriate high-level advocacy on law, policy and practice relating to Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
You will work to empower and advise parent/carers, children and young people to help secure positive outcomes in several different ways such as casework, helpline and community drop ins/events.
You will also support and encourage the participation and empowerment of parent/carers, young people, and children with SEND to play an active, informed role in their/their child's education, health, and future.
You will be a source of information and expertise on SEND legislation, navigating SEND processes for children, young people, parent/carers and other professionals.
The role will involve lone working and travelling around Norfolk.
