The service plays a crucial and impartial role within the Local Authority in promoting the active participation of children and young people who have SEND and their parents/carers in issues around SEN and disability. SENDIASS works with parents/carers, children and young people as well as education settings, keeping channels of communication open, and ensuring SEND support is in place.

To increase our reach and ability to support parent/carers of children and young people with SEND we are looking to employ a part time SENDIAS Advisor.

As a SENDIAS Advisor you will hold a high caseload, providing free, impartial and confidential information, advice, support via casework and where appropriate high-level advocacy on law, policy and practice relating to Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).

You will work to empower and advise parent/carers, children and young people to help secure positive outcomes in several different ways such as casework, helpline and community drop ins/events.
You will also support and encourage the participation and empowerment of parent/carers, young people, and children with SEND to play an active, informed role in their/their child's education, health, and future.

You will be a source of information and expertise on SEND legislation, navigating SEND processes for children, young people, parent/carers and other professionals.

The role will involve lone working and travelling around Norfolk.

If you are organised, resilient and empathic, with excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, then we would like to hear from you.
