Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire (On-Site)
Type: Contract - Initial 6 months with chance to be extended
Salary: £30 - £35 p/h
Are you passionate about driving manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement? We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team in Portsmouth. This is an on-site, contract role of initially 6 months but could be extended based on workload.
Responsibilities
* Identify and implement process improvements to deliver better product quality to customers and stronger internal yields
* Develop and launch efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes for new products, ensuring projects are on time and within budget
* Develop and generate detailed 3D CAD models to support manufacturing processes
* Promote Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor (including HOS/5S/7S)
* Drive projects to reduce direct and indirect costs within operations
* Support root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and cross-functional problem-solving
* Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent) in Manufacturing/ Engineering OR a recognised time-served engineering apprenticeship
* Hands-on experience in process or manufacturing engineering, ideally in a high-tech or industrial setting
* Experience developing and generating detailed 3D CAD models to support manufacturing processes
* Plan and design manufacturing workflows, equipment layout, and assembly methods within an industrial plant to maximize production efficiency
* Analyze workforce utilization and manufacturing operations to identify areas for improvement and optimization
* Determine necessary parts, tools, and materials needed to meet production goals in line with product specifications
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturing methods comply with quality standards
* Strong track record of implementing Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt or above), and continuous improvement practices
