Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor to join our Cardiac Surgical Specialist Registrars (SpR) group. Based at Royal Sussex County Hospital, you will be on a rolling on-call rota and have access to training opportunities in clinics, theatres and wards. Post-holders should be enthusiastic to learn and participate in all aspects of the department’s work and contribute to research activities.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the rolling on-call rota (1:6) non-resident overnight; immediate care is provided by Advanced Care Practitioners.
* Cover surgical theatres, the cardiac ICU, wards and outpatient clinics; usually 2–3 operating days per week.
* Collaborate with the allocated consultant for outpatient clinics.
* Engage in formal teaching through weekly educational meetings/journal club; teaching program organised by the allocated trainee.
* Maintain a personal development plan and annual targets with supervision; six-month meetings with the clinical supervisor; formal reports submitted to the Surgical lead as required.
* Participate in the Local Faculty Group assessment processes; attend biannual meetings.
Training and supervision
* Each trainee is allocated a clinical supervisor (CS).
* Regular discussions to set objectives for each block; annual development plan reviewed with the CS.
