The Vacancy
Are you enthusiastic about education and interested in exploring a career in teaching? Sir John Nelthorpe School is seeking to appoint a committed and proactive Cover Supervisor to join our successful and supportive team from September 2025.
This is an ideal opportunity for a confident, organised individual who enjoys working with young people and is looking to gain valuable experience in a secondary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials in the absence of teaching staff
- Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Supporting pupils with their learning and encouraging high expectations
- Collaborating with teaching staff and the wider school team to ensure continuity of learning

- Is passionate about working with young people
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Can manage a classroom effectively and confidently
- Is flexible, reliable, and professional
- Is keen to develop their skills and potentially explore a route into teaching
