Your newpanyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a primary school in Sefton as they are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated teaching assistant to support the reception and year 1 classes. This is a long-term full-time contract needed to cover maternity.
Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting the reception class in the morning and year 1 in the afternoon, supporting both teachers in the delivery of stimulating and engaging lessons by utilising an array of learning equipment and associating learning materials with pupils' key interests. Across both classes, you will build strong constructive relationships with your pupils by getting to know them as individuals and introducing them to new pupil groups. This will aid in the development of their social and emotional skills as well as ensure that each pupil reaches their full academic potential. You will spend the mornings supporting the reception class, holding guided reading and writing sessions on a small group basis and delivering learn-through play sessions to aid in their social and emotional development. A number of pupils within this class have "big personalities" and can at times be disruptive. To help retain their focus, you will play small games, speak to them, and remove them from the class if required to retain focus. In the afternoon you will support the year 1 class, leading on small groups and 1:1 interventions to lower and mixed-ability pupils in key areas including phonics, numeracy and literacy. These interventions will initially be held within a separate class to retain focus and engagement.
