Redwood River School is a new independent specialist setting for neurodivergent children and young people aged 6–18, including those with ASC, PDA, SEMH needs, developmental trauma, and other complex learning profiles. Our school is based in the heart of the Dartington Estate, surrounded by natural beauty and designed to offer calm, connected, and creative spaces for every learner.
As part of our growing team, we are looking for an inspiring and experienced Primary Curriculum Lead to oversee the design and delivery of a creative, inclusive and therapeutic curriculum for our primary students. You will play a vital role in shaping how learning looks and feels across Key Stages 1 and 2, ensuring every child is supported, stretched, and celebrated.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Leading the development of the primary curriculum, ensuring it is accessible, engaging and tailored to individual needs
2. Modelling and supporting excellent classroom practice that reflects trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approaches
3. Working with the senior leadership team to align curriculum planning with whole school values and vision
4. Supporting teaching staff to deliver adaptive, creative lessons that meet students where they are
5. Using assessment tools meaningfully to celebrate progress and inform planning
6. Overseeing curriculum resources, planning cycles and classroom environments
7. Working closely with families and professionals to co-create learning pathways for students
8. Contributing to school development, staff training, and reflective practice

What We’re Looking For:
14. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
15. Experience teaching and leading curriculum development at the primary level
16. A strong understanding of SEND, including Autism, PDA, SEMH and developmental trauma
17. A creative, reflective and flexible approach to teaching and leadership
18. Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for inclusive education
19. Experience mentoring or supporting other staff (desirable)
20. A commitment to positive behaviour support and emotionally literate practice
