Project Engineer £44-48k 33 days hol (inc BH) Automotive/ Manufacturing Annual Bonus Flexible hours on days Early finish on a Friday Our manufacturing client based in Trafford Park are looking for a Project Engineer to join their manufacturing business on a permanent basis. The person in this role will facilitate operational and commercial performance of a designated customer. The role is responsible for planning, coordination and delivery of services in accordance with contract requirements, safety standards and performance targets. Working within a matrix environment the Project Engineer ensure effective collaboration between internal functions and outward facing roles (Supply Chain and commercial) to deliver programme outcomes on time, within scope and to budget. Project Engineer key responsibilities: * Lead the end to end operational and commercial delivery of the assigned customer programme. * Work closely with the Contract Manager to ensure contractual obligations are fully understood, met and exceeded. * Coordinate cross-functional teams including planning, production, engineering, quality and logistics to deliver programme milestones. * Assist in developing and updating short term production schedules based on backlog resource availability and delivery commitments. * Identify and escalate any delays, material shortages, or equipment malfunctions that may impact turnaround times. * Support programme forecasting across volume, revenue and cost; ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting. * Oversee the customer-specific profit and loss account, monitoring performance, ensuring profitability and preventing scope creep. * Track analyse and act upon key operational and service performance indicators (SLA's, KPI's, OTIF, etc) * Conduct regular internal programme reviews and support quarterly customer business reviews. * Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities across cost, quality and efficiency. * Support commercial activities including contract amendments, renewals and negotiation processes. * Maintain detailed knowledge of the customer's operations and strategic objectives to align services accordingly. * Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards relevant to rail operations. Key Interfaces: Internal: Production, Engineering, Planning, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, Senior Management & Transport External: Customer representatives, Contract Management Teams, Suppliers Project Engineer Person Specification: * Proven experience in programme, project or contract management within an operational or engineering environment * Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and reporting performance. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. * Demonstrable leadership and coordination skills in matrix or cross-functional setting. * High level of organisational skill with the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently * Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, including root cause analysis and performance management. * Familiarity with safety critical environments and associated compliance requirements. * Knowledge of lean principles, continuous improvement tools or project methodologies (e.g. Prince2, Six Sigma)
