Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrician at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to join our busy Estates & Facilities Management Team. The role involves electrical installation, fault finding, diagnostics and general maintenance of the site’s infrastructure. Responsibilities include testing, diagnosing and repairing faults on electrical installations, plant and equipment and working alongside the in‑house maintenance team. The role requires a smart appearance and courteous disposition when interacting with patients and members of the public.

Main duties of the job
* Test, diagnose and repair faults on electrical installations, plant and equipment.
* Deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
* Have a large understanding of electrical systems including nurse calls, fire alarm systems, lighting and general electrical systems to enable diagnostic work and repairs to be completed.
* Work alongside the in‑house maintenance team with minimum supervision and take an active approach to training and development.

* Test, diagnose and repair faults on engineering electrical installations, plant and equipment.
* Understand the working of electrical systems within NHS buildings.
* Instruct others on the above features and other aspects of the work.
* Perform a wide range of work of other crafts.
* Manufacture, assemble, erect and install new work.
* Carry out repairs, maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment.
* Use all relevant tools and equipment.
* Participate in learning new procedures and technology to improve methods of work and increase department efficiency.
* Perform PPM maintenance on these systems and any other duties delegated by Team Leaders within their capabilities.
Training & Qualifications
* Technical knowledge of a range of systems including expertise in areas where specialist theoretical and practical experience has been gained.
* CITB or EITB Apprenticeship and City & Guilds Level 3 electrical qualification.
Experience
* Relevant experience demonstrating high flexibility and versatility over a wide range of engineering services.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of normal duties and is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020.
