Facilitating Trainer

Work alongside trainers who are Autistic and/or have learning
disabilities to reach the hearts and minds of healthcare staff across
Kent and Medway with life-changing training.

Main aims:
Co-deliver the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disabilities and
Autism to professionals in health and social care.
Enable colleagues who are Autistic and/or have learning disabilities to thrive
and make an impact as trainers.

Location:
Training locations are throughout Kent and Medway and this role requires
regular travel across the region. Trainers should expect to travel frequently,
including journeys that may exceed an hour. Travel may be required to cover
colleague absence or attend staff training, and flexibility to travel across Kent
and Medway is essential.

JOB DESCRIPTION
● Role model exemplary behaviour in conduct, attitude and performance
when delivering The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning
Disability and Autism.
● Co-deliver training sessions creatively and to the highest standards of
best practice. Training will utilise a range of methods, including traditional
training delivery, group discussions, and video.
● Enable colleagues who are Autistic and/or have learning disabilities to
thrive and make an impact as trainers. This includes supporting
colleagues to develop skills and confidence, and facilitating post-training
debriefing and reflective practice.
● Train large groups of professionals who have a diverse range of health
and social care experience and practice.
● Deploy trainee-centred learning interventions.
● Ensures all the learning outcomes are fully achieved by trainees.
● Recognise and provide for the learning needs and reasonable
adjustments of individual trainees and the whole group before, during and
after training.
● Help keep participants and colleagues safe and confident in their
surroundings. Act on safeguarding and health and safety concerns in line
with organisation policies.
● Appropriately challenge poor practice, inappropriate views or language.
● Maintain knowledge of current and emerging thinking in health and social
care practice, learning disability and Autistic experience, laws of consent
(UK), The Mental Capacity Act 2005, The Human Rights Act 1998, The
Autism Act 2009, Do not attempt cardiovascular resuscitation case law
(DNACPR), LeDeR and other relevant law, policy and practice.
● Identify trends and any issues regarding training facilitation or delivery,
escalating and acting on these as appropriate.
● Attend meetings and training to develop relevant skills and knowledge
and ensure consistent and high-quality delivery.
● Proactively reflect on your own practice to improve performance.
● Other relevant and reasonable tasks as required by management,
including preparing course materials, managing post-course
administration, maintaining evaluation records, and assisting in
monitoring the effectiveness of training programmes.
● Coordinate and deliver online training sessions, including setting up
courses, managing live chat, and facilitating Q&A sessions.
