Location: Workshop based, with site work as required
Reporting to: Service Manager / Workshop Supervisor
Job Purpose
To service, repair, and refurbish industrial gearboxes and motors within a busy workshop environment, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and to manufacturer specifications. The role requires a strong mechanical background, a flexible attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
* Strip down and assess industrial gearboxes and motors
* Diagnose faults and complete service and inspection job sheets
* Clean and degrease components prior to repair and reassembly
* Replace gears, shafts, bearings, and seals to manufacturer tolerances
* Assemble and test gearboxes and motors following repair
* Paint and prepare equipment for despatch
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workshop safety
* Carry out on-site work at customer locations when required
Skills and Experience
* Proven mechanical fitting experience
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
* Ability to read and follow technical drawings and instructions
* Good computer literacy for job sheets and records
* Flexible, can-do approach to work
* Full driving licence
* Basic electrical knowledge
* Machining experience, including lathes, presses, and milling machines
* Forklift licence
* Experience working on customer sites
