About Our Client
To lead on key financial processes—including payroll, sales ledger management and statutory reporting—while providing advanced administrative and office support. The postholder acts as a member of the Corporate Services team, ensuring robust financial control, smooth office operations and cross-cover for critical tasks.
Job Description
* Sales Ledger Management
o Raise and process sales invoices, including statutory levy income.
o Record bank receipts and income from assurance schemes, resolving discrepancies with external bodies.
o Operate credit-control procedures, escalating overdue accounts and customer disputes.
* Payroll
o Complete monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy of salaries, pension and statutory deductions.
o Maintain confidential payroll records and address staff pay queries promptly.
o Ensure PAYE, National Insurance and pension deadlines are met.
* Financial Accounting & Compliance
o Prepare and submit VAT returns.
o Post journals for accruals, prepayments and corrections.
o Perform monthly bank reconciliations and daily inter-account transfers.
o Maintain the fixed-asset register.
o Produce monthly and ad-hoc financial reports for senior management.
o Support internal and external audit processes, providing schedules and evidence.
* Procurement & PO System Oversight
o Monitor compliance with the procurement policy.
o Oversee the Purchase Order processes on Business Central, train staff, and review expenditure reports.
* Administration & Office Support
o Provide high-level administrative assistance—proof-reading, formatting documents, drafting surveys and reports.
o Coordinate IT onboarding for new starters and act as day-to-day liaison with external IT contractors.
o Support the Head of Corporate Services with project administration and data collation.
o Deliver reception and office cover when required, ensuring seamless front-of-house service.
o Drive continual improvement of office systems and processes.
The Successful Applicant
* Comfortable using initiative with previous experience of sales ledger, journals, payroll, and quarterly VAT returns.
* Data analysis experience would be advantageous.
* Experience working in a fast paced SME environment.
