Mott MacDonald is a global engineering, management, and development consultancy with over 20,000 employees across more than 50 countries and 140+ offices. We work across global industries, delivering work that defines our future and makes an impact in the communities we serve. Our people power our performance – we succeed when they do. With opportunities to collaborate, learn, and grow, the possibilities for excellence are as varied as every individual. We are an employee-owned business, investing in creating the right space for everyone to feel empowered, included, and valued. Whatever your ambition, Mott MacDonald is where people come to be brilliant.

About The Division

The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges. The work we do ensures safe water supplies for future generations, prevents urban flooding, and improves the health of rivers and coastal environments. Our multi-disciplinary teams provide services throughout the full project lifecycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies to outline and detailed design. We deliver best-in-class solutions to our clients while offering diverse and technically stimulating opportunities to our people.

Overview Of The Role

Do you want to be part of an employee-owned company where our independence focuses on projects that matter to us—delivering social outcomes, enhancing the environment, harnessing digital innovation, and challenging technical excellence? You will have access to industry-recognised experts and opportunities for development. We are a collaborative team solving complex challenges with a positive impact on the world, and we are looking for like-minded people to join us.

Mott MacDonald is a market leader in the UK water sector, working with major water companies on a range of engineering and advisory projects. Our Water Utilities Division has ambitious growth plans aligned with AMP8 investment needs. We are expanding our team and seek a Principal/Associate Project Manager to lead within our water engineering team. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, deliver projects in partnership with clients and contractors, and build strong relationships to enhance the company's reputation and secure further work.

This is a fantastic professional opportunity for a driven individual with strong project management experience in the UK water and wastewater infrastructure sector, contributing to AMP8-related projects. You will lead the design of innovative and sustainable solutions addressing leakage, clean water provision, and sewage disposal across client assets. Some projects may be emergency or reactive, requiring fast-paced design and effective change management within the wider programme.

You will coordinate project teams through the project lifecycle, ensuring business management system compliance, technical quality assurance, programme and cost control, and client interface. You will represent the company in meetings and supervise junior staff, providing technical and commercial guidance. You will contribute to commercial success through forecasting, risk management, and the preparation of bids and proposals.

Mott MacDonald offers a highly innovative and collaborative environment with opportunities in technical, management, or client-facing directions. You will have control of your career path and strong progression prospects as the business grows.
