Job Title: Sales Engineer Location: Cirencester Salary: £32,000–£40,000 (OTE £40,000–£50,000) Contract: Permanent Role Overview – Sales Engineer Are you a hands on engineer with a passion for customer engagement and technical problem-solving? Our client, a leading engineering solutions provider based in Cirencester, is seeking an Inside Technical Sales professional to join their growing team. This role combines technical knowledge with commercial acumen. You’ll act as the primary internal contact for customers within a defined region, working closely with Area Sales Managers, design engineers, and systems specialists to deliver tailored solutions. If you enjoy applying engineering principles to real-world applications while driving business growth, this is the perfect opportunity. Key Responsibilities – Sales Engineer Manage all sales activity within your assigned region, ensuring technical accuracy and customer satisfaction. Serve as the main internal point of contact, providing responsive and technically informed support. Prepare detailed quotations, process orders, and resolve technical queries efficiently. Work with design and systems engineering teams to develop application-specific solutions and resolve technical discrepancies. Build deep knowledge of product capabilities, industry applications, and competitor offerings to advise customers effectively. Follow up on quotations, identify new projects, and promote value-added solutions and new component developments (NCD). Produce accurate supporting documentation and maintain project data in CRM systems. Attend customer visits, product demonstrations, and industry exhibitions alongside Account Managers. Communicate successful applications and technical insights to improve overall commercial performance. Key Experience & Qualifications – Sales Engineer Apprenticeship or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline. Experience or strong interest in process automation, control systems, or industrial engineering environments. Previous exposure to technical sales, business development, or marketing within engineering sectors is desirable. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational abilities with a proactive, team-oriented mindset. Benefits – Sales Engineer Hybrid working: 3 days office / 2 days remote (Wednesday office mandatory). Company pension scheme (starting at 8%). 33 days annual leave including bank holidays.
