Are you an enthusiastic and proactive leader looking to take the next step in your leisure management career? We are working with a well-established and community-focused leisure provider to recruit an experienced Duty Manager for a large, modern fitness and recreation facility in South Bristol.
About the Facility This flagship centre offers a wide range of high-quality amenities, including a 155-station fully equipped gym, a diverse programme of group exercise classes, a swimming pool and spa, and a multi-use sports hall. The site plays a key role in promoting health, wellbeing, and active lifestyles for people of all ages and backgrounds.
About the Role As Duty Manager, you will be a vital part of the day-to-day operation of the centre—leading shifts, supporting frontline staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining a safe, high-quality environment for all users.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage daily operations and act as shift leader
* Ensure high standards of health and safety and customer care
* Lead and support staff across various departments, including poolside
* Contribute to programme development, marketing, and customer engagement
* Oversee security procedures, key holding, and emergency call-outs
* Support recruitment, training, and development of team members
* Monitor performance targets, participation levels, and cost-effectiveness
* Handle cash, reporting, and general administrative duties
The Ideal Candidate You will be a confident communicator with a customer-first approach, comfortable managing people and facilities in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.
Essential:
* Previous supervisory or team leader experience within leisure, fitness, or hospitality
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends
Desirable:
* National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
* Pool Plant Operator Certificate
* Qualification in Leisure Management, Sports Development, or a related area
