Job Overview
The Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is integral to delivering safe and effective medication management for patients. We invite applications from motivated and adaptable Pharmacists to join our inpatient hospital pharmacy team. While prior hospital pharmacy experience is advantageous, it is not essential; pharmacists from other sectors are encouraged to apply, as this position provides valuable exposure to a hospital setting.
This role offers flexible working hours, including potential weekend shifts, to accommodate varied schedules and complement existing commitments. Appointment banding will be determined based on relevant experience. Applicants are requested to specify their level of experience and areas of competence within their application.
Key Responsibilities
* Medicines reconciliation
* Reviewing inpatient prescriptions
* Participating in multidisciplinary ward rounds
* Facilitating patient discharge
* Providing education to patients
* Comprehensive training will be provided, enabling you to clinically screen and monitor prescriptions, make interventions, and order medications using our electronic prescribing system.

The Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is a large department (over 150 staff) and a friendly environment with established senior support. We are dedicated to education and professional development and encourage/support ongoing education. We have a very favourable oncall commitment, that all pharmacists in the department contribute to. Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty‑five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac, Haematology and Cystic fibrosis patients. Education and Qualification
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable criteria
* Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Equivalent Qualification
* Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
* Independent Prescribing Qualification
Experience And Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Previous experience of working in a clinical environment
Desirable criteria
* Previous hospital pharmacist experience including ward based working
* Experience in a variety of aspects of clinical pharmacy
Skills And Ability

* Good verbal and written communication
* Able to work under pressure, remains calm and objective
* Good time management, decision making and organisational skills.
* Recognises personal limitations
