Critical Facilities & MEP Manager - URGENT
£65,000 plus benefits, bonus, and package - Smaller company, Smaller Data centre, Big Opportunity
We have a brand-new exciting opportunity for an All-encompassing Critical Facilities & MEP Manager to join a progressive and forward-thinking client based in the Heathrow region of the UK. You will be responsible for ensuring service level agreements are tested, robust, and well-negotiated, and that the Data Centre delivery is top-notch.
You will be a key part of the team, instrumental in the success of this self-delivered hybrid model.
The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Managing daily operations including repair & maintenance, security, cleaning, change control, procurement, accounting & budgeting.
2. Managing/ executing data centre expansion, modifications, maintenance, or new client move-ins.
3. Preparing maintenance contracts & tender documents.
4. Supervising and consulting with external vendors and responding to issues.
5. Managing specifications, problems, performance, and administration.
6. Preparing management reports, presentations, SOP/EOP, critical activity plans, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
7. Managing incidents and preparing incident reports.
8. Engaging with internal stakeholders for feedback.
9. Resolving conflicts with vendors/suppliers.
10. Implementing safety procedures and performance measurement tools.
11. Providing excellent customer service.
12. Routine inspections and proactive reporting of facility issues.
13. Tracking and updating financial budgets.
14. Producing operation reports and liaising with relevant managers.
15. Recruitment of property management staff as needed.
16. Managing data centre facility operations, including handling Uptime Certification.
17. Establishing engineering and operational procedures.
18. Ensuring legal compliance and managing electrical safety as a qualified electrical professional.
19. Supporting emergency calls and troubleshooting.
20. Implementing energy and cost initiatives.
21. Managing vendor maintenance during weekends and reviewing reports.
22. Developing technical service standards and assisting in critical environment procedures.
23. Providing technical solutions and performance measurement systems.
24. Participating in disaster recovery planning.
25. Monitoring and updating the Data Centre Infrastructure Management System (DCIM) and related systems.
26. Ensuring certificates are valid and arranging renewals.
27. Handling incidents and coordinating with utility companies for routine maintenance.
28. Auditing shift handovers, security, and cleaning schedules.
29. Managing customer IT equipment racks and equipment move-ins.
30. Performing burn-in and leakage tests for customer equipment.
31. Planning and recording drills with approval.
32. Checking and approving vendor RAMS.
33. Managing security staff and performance reviews.
Requirements:
1. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in data centre or telecommunications facilities operation.
3. Licensed to coordinate with utility companies and handle high voltage.
4. Knowledge of critical facilities like chillers, CRAC, UPS, Genset, etc.
5. Strong leadership, communication, and PC skills.
6. Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
7. HND/HNC or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
8. Availability for 24/7 emergency support.
9. Experience with ISO 9000/27000 and PCI-DSS certifications.
