Summary

The National Trust is a vibrant and fast‑moving organisation, where no two days are ever the same. If you thrive on variety and enjoy adapting to changing demands, this role will suit you perfectly. As a key part of our business support function, you’ll help keep day‑to‑day operations running smoothly by managing the systems, processes, and procedures that enable our property team to meet its strategic goals.

You’ll champion best practice, seeking out improvements and confidently challenging established ways of working when you see opportunities to do things better. This role is worked on-site from 9am to 5pm, Tuesdays and Saturdays.

What it's like to work here

Cragside is one of the North East’s most iconic visitor attractions, welcoming around 250,000 people each year. Set in beautiful rural Northumberland yet only 30 miles from the lively city of Newcastle, it offers an exceptional balance of tranquillity and accessibility. With shorter commutes, spectacular scenery, and a genuinely high quality of life, Northumberland is a wonderful place to live and work—and the view from your office is something special.

What you'll be doing

You’ll play a central part in the smooth running of daily operations. Your day could include handling a group booking enquiry, coordinating with colleagues over radio to arrange contractor access, and placing orders for uniforms—all within the same hour.

As a valued member of the Business Services team, led by our Business Services Lead, you’ll provide comprehensive administrative support across the property. You’ll enjoy the variety that comes with supporting multiple departments, helping Heads of Department and their teams deliver the Trust’s strategy and objectives.

You’ll oversee internal and external communications, coordinate property diaries and movements, and use a range of IT systems to produce reports, maintain accurate records, and manage compliance and other processes. The role also involves cash handling and reconciliation. In addition, you will be part of the property’s duty manager rota, and supervise business services volunteers.
