A respected primary school in Winchester is seeking two dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join their team. These positions focus on providing support to students in Key Stage 2 with moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and we are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a significant impact on the educational and personal development of these children. About the Role: As a Learning Support Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to support students with ASD within the classroom. You will assist in helping them engage with the curriculum and participate fully in all school activities. Working collaboratively with the class teacher, you will provide both academic and emotional support, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. A proactive approach is essential, particularly in managing challenging behaviours in a calm and constructive manner. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with ASD. Assist in the delivery of differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs. Support the management of challenging behaviours in a positive, composed manner. Promote inclusion and facilitate social participation within the classroom. Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Assist students in developing independence and enhancing social skills. Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to ensure optimal student outcomes. While experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable, it is not essential. We are happy to provide the necessary training for the right candidates. Ideal candidates will also possess: Experience working with children with ASD (although this is not a requirement). Flexibility and adaptability in their approach. Strong communication skills.
