About the role:
In this role, you’ll be part of a well‑established Occupational Health Service made up of Occupational Health Nurses, an Occupational Health Physician, and a full‑time Physiotherapist. Together, the team delivers the full range of Occupational Health support to colleagues across JCB.
As an Occupational Health Screening Nurse, you will provide a high‑quality, professional service across all areas of Occupational Health. You’ll deliver expert advice to managers, employees, and HR teams—helping the business meet its legal responsibilities and follow best‑practice policies and procedures. Working both autonomously and as a valued member of the wider team, you’ll play a key role in promoting wellbeing, preventing work‑related ill health, and supporting employees throughout their working life at JCB.
What does this role involve day to day?
Clinical Responsibilities:
· Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate Occupational Health programmes that meet the needs of JCB employees and support the company’s legal obligations.
· Support self-referrals and proactively assist employees with long‑term conditions, including workplace rehabilitation and adjustments.
· Support delivery of the JCB Health and Wellbeing Strategy
· Maintain accurate, confidential occupational health records and ensure compliance with data protection standards.
· Provide appropriate emergency treatment, including anaphylaxis management and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
· Coordinate rapid access to allied health services where necessary.
Legal & Ethical Responsibilities:
· Practice within the legal and ethical framework of the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and relevant national legislation.
· Maintain secure and accurate employee health records in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Access to Medical Records Report Act 1990.
· Contribute to the development and review of Occupational Health policies and procedures.
· Support audit processes and record‑keeping standards within the Occupational Health department.
Education & Professional Development:
· Support the continuous professional development of colleagues within resource availability.
· Teach, assess, and mentor junior staff and students.
· Deliver health education and health promotion sessions to employees, individually or in groups.
This role will be suited to you if …
1. You are a Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration and at least one year of post‑registration experience.
2. You have up‑to‑date training in anaphylaxis management and CPR.
3. You have experience or recognised training in venepuncture.
4. You communicate confidently and effectively at all levels of an organisation.
5. You have strong time management and organisational skills.
6. You are able and willing to travel across the company’s eight geographical sites.
7. You enjoy working autonomously while contributing positively to a wider Occupational Health team.
8. You are committed to maintaining high professional standards and supporting the wellbeing of employees.
