The Role
Are you a Detective Constable with a detailed knowledge of criminal investigative techniques and an interest in investigating serious and complex allegations of abuse and neglect against adults at risk?
Would you like to be part of a successful and motivated team based at HQ with the potential for hybrid remote working?
The Adults at Risk team was set up to ensure the force was responding to allegations of abuse and neglect against adults at risk effectively and appropriately.
You will work on a small, close-knit team in a supportive environment and there will be opportunities to contribute to shaping the future of the team.
Key Responsibilities
* You will investigate offences involving allegations of abuse and/or neglect against adults at risk.
* You will examine third party material, including medical and care records, which are relevant to these allegations and identify material which may be evidential or disclosable.
* You will liaise with other agencies, including the Care Quality Commission and Adult Services, to ensure adequate safeguarding measures are in place in relation to these allegations.
Skills & Experience
* You will have a proven track record in the investigation of serious and complex crimes.
* You will have a sound knowledge of criminal investigation techniques and will have demonstrated the ability to use them.
* You will be able to assess threat, harm and risk effectively and know when to highlight areas of risk to a supervisor and/or manager.
* You will have a sound knowledge of legislation relating to adult abuse and neglect offences and it is desirable you have had recent practical experience in investigating sexual offences and fraud.
* You will display sufficient depth of character and sensitivity in order to be able to deal professionally with disturbing cases involving adults at risk.
* You will have a depth of awareness regarding the sensitive issues involved in the team’s work.
* You will have good communication skills both oral and written, and the ability to produce clear, concise and logical reports.
* You will be able to demonstrate recent experience in multi-agency working and have the capability to develop and maintain effective working relationships both within and outside our organisation.
* It is desirable that you be able to display an ability to work with minimal supervision.
