Main duties of the job
About the Role: This is a fantastic opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist developing a specialism in supporting children with complex learning needs. At Danecourt, you'll join a team committed to helping every child communicate, learn, and thrive.
You will work alongside our Occupational Therapist, Behavioural Specialist, and Therapies Assistant, delivering integrated support within our primary-aged special school. Collaboration with NHS therapists and our skilled teaching teams will be essential to embed communication strategies across the school day.
Heres what you'll be doing:
* Deliver targeted, specialist, and universal interventions to meet a wide range of communication needs
* Implement low, lite, and high-tech AAC as part of a Total (inclusive) Communication approach tailored to individual pupils
* Support pupils with assessed/known feeding difficulties (basic dysphagia training essential)
* Collaborate with families, teachers, and external professionals to develop and maintain consistent communication support
* Deliver engaging training for parents, class teams, and whole-school staff
* Provide reports and input into annual reviews and SEND planning
* Receive regular supervision and support from our Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Deliver targeted communication interventions, implement AAC tools, support pupils with feeding difficulties, collaborate with teams and families, deliver training, and contribute to EHCPs. Regular supervision from our Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will support your professional development.
Person Specification
Experience
* Qualified and HCPC-Registered
* Experience in SEND, confident working with children with complex needs
* Skills in implementing AAC and dysphagia support (basic level training essential)
* Strong communicator, collaborative, compassionate, outcome-driven, and aspirational

Salary: £30,537 to £39,055 per year (Medway PO1, 27-37 hours)
