Overview
As a member of the Safety, Wellbeing and Resilience Team, you will coordinate radiation safety (ionising and non-ionising radiation) for the University. You will also have a remit for general health and safety, including the provision of competent advice and performance monitoring. You will lead on the implementation of the radiation safety policy, maintain up-to-date guidance, manage the work of the external Radiation Protection Adviser, maintain the University’s environmental permits and consents, and registrations issued by the HSE, and arrange and deliver training and advice (both radiation and general health and safety) as required.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate radiation safety (ionising and non-ionising) for the University and provide competent health and safety advice and performance monitoring.
* Lead on the implementation of the radiation safety policy and maintain up-to-date guidance.
* Manage the work of the external Radiation Protection Adviser.
* Maintain the University’s environmental permits and consents, and registrations issued by the HSE.
* Arrange and deliver radiation safety and general health and safety training and advice as required.
Qualifications and Skills
* Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
* Sound understanding of general health and safety management and radiation safety principles gained through practical application.
* Excellent communication skills and good IT skills.
* Willingness to work towards an appropriate radiation protection qualification and a general health and safety qualification if not already held.

Salary Range: £37,694 - £46,049
FTE: 1 (35 hours/week)
