Employment Type: Full Time (37.5 hours per week) Shift Pattern: Rotating Days, Afternoons, and Nights Shift Allowance: Additional 17% on top of hourly rate for rotating shifts Pay Rate: Up to £16.88 per hour (Dependent on experience) We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanical Fitter to join our reputable client in maintaining, assembling, and overhauling industrial machinery and mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Fitter: * Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing of mechanical systems and components. * Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment. * Dismantle, inspect, and replace worn or damaged mechanical parts using tools and machinery. * Support machinery overhauls, upgrades, and new installations. * Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation and company procedures. * Maintain detailed maintenance records and report recurring mechanical issues. The Mechanical Fitter should have: * Essential: * Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a manufacturing, engineering, or heavy industrial environment. * Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, and rotating machinery. * Ability to read and interpret technical mechanical drawings and schematics. * Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Fitting. * Familiarity with basic welding, fabrication, or machining processes is advantageous. Personal Attributes: * Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills. * Able to work independently or as part of a team. * Comfortable working to deadlines and under pressure during breakdowns. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices. * Willingness to work rotating shifts and occasional overtime.
