We have an exciting opportunity for a Sessional Worker to join Southampton City Council (SCC) in the Sessional Team
About the Team
The Sessional Team at Southampton City Council is a dynamic, flexible, and supportive service. The team is often called upon - sometimes at short notice - to provide vital support to social care teams, helping children, young people, and families when they need it most.
About the Role
We are looking for reliable and compassionate staff to undertake sessional work with children, carers, and families. This role offers flexible, varied work and makes a real difference to people’s lives.
Sessional work may include:
* Supporting children in care to spend time with family members
* Undertaking fun and meaningful activities with children and young people
* Providing daytime or evening respite to support families and carers
* Transporting children to school or other activities
* Direct work with children and young people, including positive role modelling for young people and carers

About You
We are looking for people who are committed, caring, and dependable.
You will:
* Not need a professional qualification for this role
* Have experience of working with children and/or families
* Be able to demonstrate genuine care, empathy, and commitment to supporting families
* Not required to drive, although preference will be given to those available for school transport and/or evening and weekend work
* Be able to commit to providing a minimum of 8 hours per month on a consistent basis

Salary: The salary band for this role is £37,280 - £40,778. The sessional role is paid hourly and starting hourly rate is £19.32 with annual progression through the salary bands.
