Responsibilities:
1. Ensure young people understand their occupancy agreements and obligations at the start of their licence/tenancy.
2. Help young people to maximise their incomes by promptly creating initial benefit claims and assisting them in sustaining these claims as circumstances change.
3. Assist employed young people in managing their rent accounts and benefit claims.
4. Monitor and manage rent accounts, address arrears, and support young people in understanding their tenancy responsibilities.
5. Support young people in setting up utility, council tax, and other relevant service accounts, ensuring they understand their payment responsibilities.
6. Manage all aspects of possession and eviction processes with support from central teams as needed.
7. Manage waiting lists and make accommodation offers to young people.
8. Lead and manage the void process, including inspections, maintenance, and minimizing void losses.
9. Handle the letting process for void properties, including viewings, tenancy agreements, and setting up rent and benefit accounts.
10. Oversee the induction process for new young tenants.
11. Support young people in sustaining their tenancies, accessing employment, and preparing for independent living.
12. Signpost to relevant internal and external services.
13. Assist young people in managing debts and understanding property maintenance and cleanliness.
14. Manage challenging behavior in line with PIE principles, de-escalating situations and encouraging positive choices.
15. Build relationships with young people, helping them identify and achieve housing goals.
16. Conduct regular property inspections, ensure timely repairs, and address health & safety issues.
17. Perform periodic health, safety, and compliance testing.
18. Manage damage recharges and support young people in understanding their responsibilities.
19. Carry out cleaning duties and complete risk assessments.
20. Liaise with external agencies and internal teams to ensure safety and compliance.
21. Control building access, enforce visitor policies, and coordinate contractor access.
22. Monitor repairs and works, update management systems, and ensure quality standards.
Qualifications:
* GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at grade 4 or above.
* Willingness to work towards a CIH Level 3 qualification in Housing Management or equivalent.
Desirable:
* Full, current UK Driving Licence.
Role Experience:
* Experience working with young people.
* Experience in property management, housing officer, or tenancy sustainment roles.
* Experience in customer-facing roles, managing arrears, and using housing management IT systems.
* Desirable: safeguarding, employability schemes, QL experience, youth work experience.
Knowledge:
* Understanding of standards for registered providers, housing management best practices, and health & safety requirements.
* Desirable: safeguarding procedures, legal processes for possession, and benefits system knowledge.
From 2024-2025, we supported over 4,118 young people, with many living in our accommodation schemes and a high rate of positive, planned move-ons.
