Systems Architecture and Support Engineer
Due to continued growth we are delighted to be recruiting for a Systems Architecture and Support Engineer to join our IT team here at our Rugby site on a permanent basis. As a Systems Architecture and Support Engineer you will be responsible for the design, growth and upkeep of a secure infrastructure at our Rugby site. You will define the strategy, improvement and maintenance of our secure network taking it to the next level whilst ensuring a compliant system with customer and internal requirements. You will be the end user support, offering up to 3rd line support both to our engineering and manufacturing teams on a day to day basis with any IT issues they may be experiencing.
You will work closely with the Senior Manager – Risk & Compliance for IT and cross‑functional teams to take requirements and build solutions across Engineering departments and the new manufacturing centre. The work includes end‑to‑end solution delivery from initial project brief to installation for our customers.
This work is undertaken with UK Defence customers which will require any individual applying for the role to hold or be capable of getting SC Level clearance as a UK Passport Holder. Applicants not cleared will not be accepted into the business until this clearance is provided.
Responsibilities
* Support and improve secure network infrastructure based on the latest requirements of the customer.
* Take responsibility for system audits and accreditation of various networks and infrastructure.
* Work with users to find first‑time fix to issues.
* Work with EDF teams to enable a seamless integration with support model, including tools used.
* Have in-depth knowledge of technologies in use e.g. Microsoft 365 E5.
* Support network hardware including Cisco and Fortinet.
* Investigate alerts from various monitoring tools including Patch Management, IDS/IPS and system monitors.
* Support mobile devices e.g. Android and iOS.
* Document and work within secure networks.
Profile
The holder of this post must have a real passion for IT and finding solutions to complex problems with minimal supervision. The person must be able to work within an environment that is subject to change and must be able to work with that change as it occurs.
Qualifications
* Current Security Clearance or ability to gain UK Security Clearance.
* Demonstrable knowledge of:
o Microsoft 365 E5 Administration and setup
o Cisco Networking
o Fortinet firewalls
o Dell server and backup technology
o VMWare implementation and support
o Server technology including Windows Server and Linux.
* Demonstrable first, second and third‑line problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to take complex requirements and work with the teams to implement a solution that fits the requirements.
* Ability to work with all levels of the organization and communicate effectively.
* Willingness to travel to UK sites, with the base being Rugby.
* Natural problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
Desired
* Knowledge of the Cyber Essentials Scheme.
* Experience within the defence industry.
* Knowledge of Systems Architecture and how to apply this methodology.
* Knowledge of the fundamentals of cyber security and the ability to apply this to system scopes.
