WGM have an excellent opportunity for a Transport Manager to join the business on a Full-time permanent basis working within our Glasgow office, The Transport Manager role will be responsible for the management of the transport function within the Commercial business stream. The Transport Manager is responsible for managing the execution, direction, and co-ordination of all transportation matters within the organisation. This includes managing budgets, organising, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers are aware of their responsibilities.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Have a clear understanding of WGM vision and how the transport function contributes to these.
* Develop an effective strategy for the transport management including planning for the future capacity requirements in line with the business requirements.
* Develop and maintain transport system to ensure compliance with Road Traffic Act 2010.
* Support and maintain transport system to ensure compliance with Road Traffic Act 1988 and the Road Safety Act 2006
* Ensure quality, budgetary and environmental objectives are met safely and effectively.
* Professionally and effectively manage customer queries both written and verbal.
* Identify areas of continuous improvement and carry our RCA of NCR’s.
* Deliver briefings to the team on the communications of the WGM wider Business, Health & Safety, Internal KPIs, Quality and Processes.
* WGM fleet management providing specialist knowledge on issues where required including: Driver behaviours reporting/review, Fuel economy and Carbon Reporting – Fuel card compliance, Fleet repairs – number and costs, Accidents – number and costs, Servicing and MOT – Scheduling and cost reporting, tachograph monitoring and compliance, License monitoring and compliance
* Support the procurement of vehicles on a planned basis to achieve the best operational decision and value for money.
To be considered for this position you will have at least 2-3 years previous experience within a similar Transport related role. Previous experience working within an engineering or construction related industry would be beneficial for this position. The ideal candidate will have strong planning and organisational skills and have the ability to communicate with Stakeholders at various levels across the business. Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving license is essential for the position.
