Senior Platform Certification Engineer
Frazer-Nash Consultancy provides aviation certification and safety assurance services to the UK Military Defence sector. We are looking for an experienced certification senior engineer or consultant to support the development and delivery of our services. The role will involve providing engineering expertise across a range of fixed‑wing, rotary‑wing, crewed and uncrewed air systems.
Key Information
* Salary: £45,000 to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience
* Location: Burton, Bristol, Gloucester or Plymouth (flexible hybrid remote working)
* Working pattern: Flexible hybrid working – office, client sites and from home
* Closing date: 17th November 2025
Responsibilities
The chosen candidate will:
* Provide engineering expertise to a large multidisciplinary aerospace team
* Support initial platform certification, type airworthiness and continuing airworthiness
* Lead technical delivery on projects across the aerospace spectrum
* Develop a portfolio of project deliveries and hone consultancy skills
* Mentor junior engineers and graduates
* Engage with clients to deliver UK airworthy, safe, sustainable military capability
Essential Requirements
* Practitioner in platform certification or airworthiness
* 5+ years’ experience leading engineering teams (senior NCO, junior engineering officer or civilian equivalent)
* Chartered Engineer (C Eng) or working towards chartership (RAeS, IMechE or IET)
* Demonstrable technical experience in a platform certification environment within aviation, including: safety work within a Platform Delivery Team; certification requirements and compliance; working with EASA CS or Military MAC-P / DefSTAN 970 Standard; requirements management; safety and assurance of a platform; test, trials and acceptance
* Strong customer‑focused attitude
* Understanding of the different air safety aspects of an air systems life cycle
Desirable Requirements
* Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
* Defence facing experience
* Experience within a Delivery Team or Defence Equipment & Support
* Frontline engineering experience on a Squadron or similar
* Experience working for a civilian company on defence platforms or modifications
* Previous or current experience as an engineering consultant
