Electrical Civils Apprentice Location: South Queensferry Category: Electrical Contract: Full Time, 40hrs, plus OT BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,00km of Scotlands trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving. The South East Trunk Road Unit spans 506km through some of the busiest sections of the country, from central Scotland to through the Scottish Borders. Trunk roads in the South East range from the major multi-lane motorways across the central belt to roads through villages in the borders. We are looking for a motivated Electrical Apprentice to join our team and begin building a rewarding career in Electrical Civils, all while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. In this role, youll work alongside experienced electricians and wider team members, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to safe, efficient, and high-quality installations in line with Health & Safety regulations. What Youll Be Doing As an Electrical Apprentice, youll learn and contribute to: Install electrical sign poles and associated foundations in accordance with site drawings and specifications. Excavate trenches and carry out tracking for ducting and electrical cabling installations. Install and position ducting systems for electrical infrastructure. Assist with the pullingof electrical cables through installed ducting. Support electricians with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment on major bridge structures. Assist with maintenance and replacement of street lighting furniture including columns, brackets, lanterns, and feeder pillars. Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of street lighting infrastructure. Workin coordination with electricians, supervisors, and other site operatives to complete works efficiently. Assist with traffic management setups where required for highway or bridge works. What Were Looking For You dont need previous Electrical work experience well provide full training. Were more interested in your attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn. Ideally you will: Have a strong interest in Electrical / Roads / Civils work Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Team Player, with a positive and safety conscious attitude. Working towards gaining a full UK Driving licence What Youll Gain Full support throughout your apprenticeship programme, including guidance with coursework, on the job learning, and mentorship from experienced team members. Experience carrying out tracking works as part of streetlighting and infrastructure projects Skills in sign pole installation and the setup of streetlighting columns and associated equipment An understanding of infrastructure installation processes from start to finish The ability to work closely with qualified electricians and multidisciplinary team members Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations and how to apply them in practical, onsite environments Why BEAR?
