Job Title: Commercial General Manager : Aviation

Purpose of the Role
The General Manager : Aviation is responsible for the strategic and commercial management of the aviation division, ensuring commercial viability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The role encompasses leadership across all commercial activities, including contract management, letting of facilities (including offices, hangars, aircraft parking), and ongoing improvement of commercial processes. The General Manager will play a central role in driving revenue growth, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the business meets its financial and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Contract Management
* Oversee the preparation, negotiation, execution, and monitoring of all commercial contracts related to aviation operations.
* Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policy standards.
* Manage key commercial relationships, ensuring mutual value and effective performance.
* Develop risk management strategies for contractual obligations and monitor relevant KPIs.
2. Property and Facilities Letting and Promotion
* Lead the marketing, negotiation, and letting of hangars, office space, and aircraft parking stands to maximise occupancy and revenue.
* Ensure terms are commercially favourable and aligned with strategic business objectives and current market conditions.
* Work in partnership with legal and finance teams to ensure agreements are accurate and commercially robust.
* Monitor lease agreements and proactively manage renewals, terminations, and tenant relations.
3. Commercial Process Review and Management
* Continually review and enhance commercial workflows, pricing strategies, customer billing, and revenue collection processes.
* Introduce best practices to improve operational efficiency and commercial transparency.
* Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting within the commercial function.
* Establish and maintain commercial performance dashboards and KPIs for business monitoring.
4. Strategic and Financial Leadership
* Contribute to overall business strategy and decision:making processes.
* Develop and deliver annual business plans with clear revenue targets and cost controls.
* Monitor aviation market trends to identify opportunities for growth, development, or diversification.
* Lead cross:functional teams in the delivery of commercial projects and infrastructure improvements.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Team Leadership
* Act as the primary point of contact for all commercial dealings with clients, regulators, business partners, and suppliers.
* Build and manage a high:performing commercial team, ensuring defined responsibilities and continuous development.
* Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and customer:centric service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
* At least 8:10 years experience in commercial management roles.
* Aviation or related infrastructure sector experience desirable but not essential.
* Demonstrable experience in contract negotiation, property letting, and commercial operations.
* Strong financial literacy and experience with budgeting and commercial analysis.
