Associate Highways and Drainage Engineer

Responsibilities
* Oversee infrastructure design, with a focus on drainage and highways
* Deliver a range of high‑profile projects, primarily for residential development sites
* Liaise and manage working relationships with a range of clients and other stakeholders
* Manage a diverse array of people and projects
* Work to win new projects, contributing to business‑development opportunities
Required skills and experience
* UK Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline
* Extensive experience in infrastructure design, focusing on drainage and highways
* Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE or CIHT)
* Demonstrable experience of managing client and stakeholder relations across local authorities and utilities
* Significant experience of people and project management, delivering projects within deadlines, budgets and agreed standards
* Experience with DMRB, MCHW, LTN 1/20, Manual for Streets and other UK design standards
* Expert working knowledge of relevant Section Agreements (S38, S278, S102, S104, S185)
* Experience supervising site‑based works, ensuring compliance with approved specifications
* Highly competent in the production, amendment and submission of technical documents
* Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Civils 3D, Causeway Flow, InfoDrainage, etc.
* Full, valid UK driving licence
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
Desirable skills and experience
* Higher degree in a relevant discipline
* Experience of working closely with local authorities, particularly in the technical approval process for highways and drainage
* Good knowledge of surface water and foul drainage design principles
* Experience within Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
* Involvement with business‑development activities
