Vacancy: QC Analyst
Role:F/T permanent
Hours: 37.5 per week - Monday to Friday – 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm
Salary:Up to £26,000 Dependent upon Experience
We are seeking a talented Chemistry graduate or someone with relevant experience who is eager to apply their scientific knowledge in a quality-focused environment. As a quality control analyst at Apollo Scientific, you'll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of data, documentation, and processes across the company.
You'll be responsible for performing quality checks, validating technical data, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that align with Apollo's ambitious goals. The role requires a strong understanding of chemistry and attention to detail/ You must be comfortable with working within a laboratory, combined with a drive to enhance standards and processes.
This position will involve close collaboration with colleagues across sales, purchasing, production, and the Warehouse, with a focus on ensuring accurate product information, compliance with internal procedures, and consistent quality output. Key tasks:
* Perform laboratory tests of items received externally, items manufactured in-house and re-qualify old batches. Equipment includes High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Melting Point, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Karl Fischer titration (KF), Titrations, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LCMS).
* Collect test results, analyse and interpret data (where appropriate), and report the conclusion on a Quality Control Working Document, recording all appropriate results.
* Sampling items that are booked into the quality control department. This includes bulk items that weigh more than 25kg.
* Maintain a high quality and quantity of testing to achieve department's targets
* Enter Quality Control data from in-house testing, and from supplier Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) onto SAP, ensuring a high level of accuracy.
* Maintain data storage, filing paperwork and backing up Quality Control data onto server.
* Perform calibrations and performance checks on all equipment as required.
* Maintain a professional-looking lab (i.e. a clean, tidy and organised working environment), apply good housekeeping procedures and ensure the lab is fully stocked.
* Apply customer methods on our equipment to analyse products.
* Provide cover for the Quality Control Manager.
* Adhere to the Company's Management System (ISO9001) which contains all departmental procedures and SOP's and all other standard company rules and regulation including the Environmental Policy. Ensuring all activities in department are carried out in accordance with the H&S policy.
* Adhere to all procedures, risk assessments, toolbox talks on T100.
Education/Experience/Skills:
* Holds a Chemistry degree or equivalent relevant experience
* Experience with GC & HPLC
* Experience using - KF, FTIR, Titration, and melting point equipment.
* Able to apply a high level of attention to detail when carrying out all tasks
Special Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
* Excellent listening/Communication skills
* Able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
* Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook, Teams and SAP B1.
* Good time management of tasks, responsibilities & projects. Punctual attendance
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
