At Supermassive Games, we’re building unforgettable worlds and stories, and we need a Senior Designer who can help shape the player’s journey through them. So, whether you’re a seasoned Level Designer or are a strong mid-level ready to take the next step, we want to hear from you.
This is a fixed term contract until November 2026 (we therefore cannot offer sponsorship for this vacancy)
Here’s just a snippet of what you’ll be up to:
1. Lead the level design and help the development of gameplay systems mechanics
2. Craft compelling exploration gameplay, intricate puzzles, progression obstacles, and captivating level layouts
3. Block out gameplay in white-box levels and guide them to final polish with artists and programmers
4. Collaborate closely across disciplines, art, animation, programming, narrative, to ensure cohesive and cinematic experiences
5. Integrate story elements into gameplay in partnership with narrative designers
6. Drive cross-discipline reviews and post-mortems, sharing insights and elevating team standards
7. Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of growth and creativity
What we’re looking for:
8. A deep understanding of gameplay flow, game logic systems, and level design principles
9. Demonstrable experience operating as a Level Designer at a mid to senior level
10. Hands-on experience with white-boxing, prototyping, and visual scripting (Unreal Engine expertise essential)
11. A strong grasp of puzzle design and how to balance gameplay for different player skill levels
12. A plus if you have experience in any multiplayer level design
13. Experience working on published titles (ideally more than one), with a proven ability to iterate based on feedback
14. Excellent communication and documentation skills
15. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across disciplines
16. Experience, or a genuine interest, in leading and mentoring a team from the ground up
17. A passion for storytelling through gameplay
