Category Manager for Development and Safer Buildings
Full-time, Permanent position (37.5 hours) Hybrid
Locations: Beeston, Nottingham (£59,071 - £62,179) and Farringdon, London (£65,633 - £69,087)
As Category Manager for Development and Safer Buildings, you will develop and lead strategic sourcing and purchasing programmes, taking the commercial lead to contribute significantly to the delivery of allocated procurement projects. You will identify and work to exceed internal and external customer expectations by delivering demonstrable value for money from your category, create innovative and robust approaches to getting the best from suppliers, and uphold compliance with all relevant regulation and legislation, including internal financial procedures.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Supporting the Head of Commercial Procurement to create organisational excellence in procurement and purchasing.
* Developing and leading a strategic sourcing programme for defined categories and managing an allocated portfolio of sourcing categories.
* Ensuring overall compliance with internal financial procedures, relevant legislation and regulatory procurement compliance.
* Working with stakeholders to provide a compliant balance of a flexible and commercial approach to project management.
* Managing the marketplace through development of key strategies for supplier and contract management.
* Supporting the development of supplier and contract management capabilities to ensure stakeholders are aware of obligations and can access appropriate resources.
* Adopting a Category Management approach for continuous monitoring and reporting of expenditure, suppliers, market performance, value for money, and efficiency opportunities.
Qualifications:
* Relevant and specialist commercial / industry experience in purchasing and supply, ideally in the Housing Sector.
* Experience applying Strategic sourcing methodologies.
* Advanced procurement knowledge: negotiation skills, strategic sourcing, supply chain theory, influencing and interpersonal skills, contract law and dispute resolution, statistical and data analysis.
* Knowledge of market areas related to specific work categories, finance and leasing, business development and marketing plans, business accounting.
* Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or other professional institutes, or equivalent experience.
* Degree level qualification (or equivalent) plus specialist procurement knowledge and experience.
