About our opportunity:
A fantastic opportunity became available for an enthusiastic Gas Chromatography Technician to join our friendly team.
You will be reporting to the Head of Regulatory Affairs & PRRC and be based at our modern office in Newmarket (Unisurge International Limited, Farboud Innovation Park, Formula Drive, Newmarket, CB8 0BF).
Title: Gas Chromatography Technician
Location: based at our modern office in Newmarket (Farboud Innovation Park)
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
* Perform all routine ETO residue analysis (Gas Chromatograph)
* Preparation of test standards for use on the Gas Chromatograph
* Method validation and revalidation for Ethylene Oxide (EO), Ethylene Chlorohydrin (ECH) and Ethylene Glycol (EG) (linearity, LOD/LOQ, accuracy, precision, robustness)
* Trend analysis of residual data to identify early signals of process drift.
* Stock control and ordering of all laboratory consumables (columns, vials, gases)
* Full GC system ownership: columns, headspace units, detectors (typically FID), autosamplers.
* Calibration management: gases, standards, balances, and traceability to national standards
* Assisting in external and internal audits
* Review, update and generate laboratory validation protocols and laboratory standard operating procedures
Experience:
* Degree in chemical science, analytical chemistry or similar. Or an accredited vocational training course in Gas Chromatography (essential)
* Post graduate qualification (not essential)
Skills and Attributes:
* Familiarity with Gas Chromatography
* Can write process maps (SOP's), and work instructions for lab processes.
* Takes ownership and responsibility for work, accountable for actions
* Organised, punctual, manages time well, attention to detail
* Communicates well with others, Team player
* Self-sufficient to complete tasks and meet deadlines with minimal input
* Proactive in supporting the needs of the business
* Follow company polices. (Health and safety, dress code, code of conduct, EHS)
* Self-critical and open to feedback (Performance Appraisals, 1-2-1s)
