This is a great role if you're looking to have responsibility for the key transactional accounting tasks of DTFS UK. You'll oversee Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, and Bank and Cash processes to ensure business exposure and risk are minimized through timely payment, receipt, and allocation of company cash flows. You will also be responsible for the timely and accurate submission of the quarterly VAT return to HMRC.

What You Can Expect
In this role, your primary purpose will be to oversee the key transactional accounting tasks of DTFS UK. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Ensuring the correct, timely, and transparent recording of all Sub-ledger transactions (Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable), focusing on General Ledger transactions related to banking.
2. Owning the Balance Sheet AR/AP reconciliation process, effectively clearing open items to minimize financial exposure.
3. Maintaining Balance Sheet backing schedules with sufficient detail for review and audit purposes, and performing internal control tests (ICS).
4. Managing the month-end Intercompany confirmation process, analyzing and resolving discrepancies with counterparties.
5. Compiling and submitting the Quarterly VAT return to HMRC, working closely with the Financial Reporting Accountant.
6. Serving as the main point of contact for external VAT advisors, implementing improvements aligned with tax regulations.
7. Being the VAT subject matter expert, keeping the Head of Accounting & Tax informed of VAT matters and escalating issues as needed.
8. Planning and coordinating annual PSA/Incentive returns for MBT FS UK, supporting the preparation and ensuring timely submission.
9. Collaborating with Customer Operations and Collection teams to handle ad-hoc customer transactions promptly.
10. Supporting the finance team to achieve departmental goals, especially in collaboration with the Financial Reporting Accountant.
11. Providing cover for critical accounting tasks during absences and peak periods.
12. Mentoring Accounts Assistants and identifying training needs.
Additionally, you will manage relationships with internal and external partners, provide cross-functional support, and contribute to system development.
Qualifications & Skills
* Qualified accountant or studying towards ACA, CIMA, ACCA
* Understanding of Internal Controls, audit standards, IFRS, UK GAAP
* Advanced Excel and data warehouse skills
* Effective communication and presentation skills, especially with senior management
* High attention to detail, analytical skills, proactive problem-solving
* Ownership attitude and problem-solving focus
