The Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit is looking to recruit a Regional Operational Security Advisor (OpSy). You will be part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
The purpose of the OpSy is to serve as an independent advisor with the strategic objective to address and reduce Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) operational security threats, risks, and vulnerabilities.
The OpSy advises on the security, integrity, and ethical conduct of all law enforcement assets, capabilities, and techniques, particularly concerning covert activity. The role involves implementing and maintaining consistent standards of security and practice in accordance with legislation, national policy, local policy, and guidelines.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Delivering effective operational security support and advice to multiple stakeholders from strategic to tactical levels to mitigate risk.
2. Carrying out operational security reviews by overseeing and conducting relevant activities to ensure OpSy functions meet accreditation and inspection standards.
3. Advising on security incidents, legislative breaches, and compromises. The OpSy is a key stakeholder in managing security incident processes to ensure robustness on behalf of the Head of Unit.
4. Providing advice and guidance on relevant policies, Freedom of Information requests, vetting processes, projects, and counter-corruption threats.
5. Delivering Operational Security Liaison Officer (OSLO) training and coordination for the region, including relevant CPD for OSLOs. Ensuring effective communication and maintaining a register of current OSLOs in your area.
You should be willing to work in a high-pressure environment, meet tight deadlines, and work flexible hours to support the role's functions. Willingness and ability to travel within the YH region and nationally are also required.
For security reasons, you should not discuss your application with anyone other than your immediate family.
Please note that the successful candidate will undergo enhanced personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment. Be aware that vetting may be difficult for individuals not resident in the UK for the past five years, and applicants may be refused if proper vetting cannot be completed.
