Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our Passive Fire Protection business unit. The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial team and financial aspects of projects, ensuring cost control, contractual compliance, and maximising value across multiple passive fire protection schemes. This role is suited to a commercially astute professional with specialist knowledge or strong interest in the fire protection sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and variations in line with company policies.
* Provide accurate cost forecasting, cashflow projections, and monthly valuations.
* Assess, submit, and agree interim applications for payment and final accounts.
* Review and comment against commercial risk management to line management, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
* Provide cost advice and value engineering input during project planning and delivery.
* Collaborate with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure smooth delivery and financial control.
* Oversee procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, and materials.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company procedures.
* Mentor and support commercial team within the business unit.
Qualifications
* Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline.
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with at least 2 years in role within Passive Fire Protection industry.
* Knowledge and experience in passive fire protection, fire‑stopping, or associated building safety disciplines highly desirable.
* Strong contractual knowledge (JCT/NEC and subcontract agreements).
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong analytical, financial, and reporting skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
* Proficiency in relevant software (Excel, measurement tools, cost management systems).
