We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Occupational therapist to join our Integrated Community Stroke Therapy Team, based at the Furness General Hospital, covering both inpatient and community settings. This fixed‑term position covers maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
* Provide occupational therapy services in an acute hospital setting, with opportunities to work across the community pathway.
* Develop clinical knowledge and skills through appraisal, supervision, in‑service training and a peer support group.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Assistant Practitioners to promote patient‑centred rehabilitation and facilitate timely discharge.
* Travel between sites and to community locations as required.
* Engage patients in setting and working towards goals to enable positive rehabilitation outcomes.
Person specification
Qualifications & experience
* Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy approved by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
* Registration with HCPC as an Occupational Therapist.
* Experience in an acute hospital setting, including OT practice placement or post‑registration work.
* Comprehensive experience at undergraduate level of core competencies within Occupational Therapy.
* Membership of the British Association of Occupational Therapists (optional).
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Understanding of professional ethics.
* Assessment, observation, evaluation and reporting skills.
* Ability to work independently with patients, with guidance from a specialist or advanced OT when needed.
* Knowledge of health and social care legislation, clinical governance, confidentiality and health safety.
* Written and oral communication skills in English.
* Basic computer skills (word processing, email, internet).
* Knowledge of evidence‑based practice in OT.
* Risk assessment and risk management skills.
* Supervisory skills.
Personal abilities
* Ability to travel for assessment of patients in the community and between Trust sites as required.
Employer certification / accreditation
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
