Endoscopy Staff Nurse
The closing date is 01 July 2025
We are pleased to offer a full-time band 5 staff nurse position within the endoscopy team at Darlington Memorial Hospital. We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified nurses.
Working in endoscopy involves a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. We seek motivated, forward-thinking nurses committed to providing high-quality, safe patient care across the trust.
The endoscopy service performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for inpatients and outpatients in two dedicated procedure rooms.
Main duties of the job
We provide comprehensive training to ensure all competencies are achieved through knowledge and practical assessments. Each new team member is supported by a mentor who holds regular meetings to foster a friendly, supportive environment. Mentors guide trainees through all aspects of the endoscopy training program, including:
* Admitting patients and obtaining consent for non-therapeutic procedures
* Supporting sedated and unsedated patients during recovery and discharge, providing detailed test and diagnosis information
* Supporting patients in the procedure room, monitoring their condition, and administering medications
* Assisting the endoscopist during procedures, including biopsies, polyp removal, and other therapeutic interventions
Career progression opportunities include roles such as nurse endoscopist, senior nurse, or specialist nurse within our multidisciplinary teams. If you are a team player, eager to learn, and seek a supportive work environment, please contact us for more information.
