Base pay range
The Package

Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a corporately owned 24-hour hospital in Southend, Essex, seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their dynamic and experienced team. This opportunity is ideal for a vet looking to develop their career in a busy hospital setting, with access to complex surgeries and orthopaedics. The role offers a stimulating caseload and the chance to work alongside certificate holders and a highly skilled nursing team.
Working Hours / Rota
Permanent, full-time role
4-day working week
Participation in a shared weekend rota
No routine out-of-hours
Role Description
This position involves all aspects of small animal general practice, including consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures. You’ll also be part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to inpatient care, case discussions, and clinical handovers. With access to advanced procedures and equipment, this is a great opportunity for someone eager to expand their skillset in a supportive hospital environment. Career progression is actively encouraged, with full support for certificates and development.
Team Size
The hospital boasts a large, experienced team including multiple veterinary surgeons, RVNs, support staff, and certificate holders across a range of disciplines. Practice Details
This well-equipped 24-hour facility is located in the coastal town of Southend, famous for its seafront attractions and great quality of life. The hospital features state-of-the-art equipment and benefits from being part of a wider Medivet network, offering access to referrals, advanced diagnostics, and specialist support when needed.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with a strong interest in clinical development and a collaborative approach to patient care. You should be confident in routine surgeries and consultations and willing to work in a fast-paced hospital environment. Excellent communication skills and a team-first attitude are essential.
