Seeking a consultant cardiologist for a non interventional general cardiology practice in a regional general hospital offering a large range of surgical, medical, oncology and radiological services. Position Highlights full time, permanent employment contract an expanding cardiology service run by a team of 5 cardiologists supported by one registrar, a house officer, inpatient cardiology nursing staff, a nurse practitioner, several clinical nurse specialists and senior cardiology outpatient nurses, two cardiac sonographers and two cardiac physiologists. general cardiologist delivers inpatient cardiology care approximately one in five weeks and outpatient ambulatory services predominantly from hospitals and clinics across the region. many opportunities to develop subspecialist interests that will complement the department’s current service The department’s facilities allow echocardiography, CT coronary angiography, cardiac MRI, exercise treadmill testing, ambulatory cardiac monitoring, a diagnostic angiography laboratory and cardiac device implantation (as of this year). Proficiency in left and right heart catheterisation studies, temporary pacing wires and pericardial drains is important. regional tertiary referral centre in Wellington Regional Hospital cardiology is part of the 50 physician strong internal medicine department working in 12 sub specialist areas. department provides medical education for undergraduate students and physician trainees with a robust education calendar in place.
