About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Fraud Operations Team Manager within Economic Crime to lead a team of Fraud Specialists. This is an up to 12 month maternity cover.
This role is responsible for ensuring our members and the Society are protected from fraud threats. This is more than 'just' a leadership role however – it will be expected to drive and lead continuous improvement within the team, whilst at the same time being agile in understanding and responding to new and emerging financial crime threats.
This role will work closely and effectively with the Senior Operations Manager – Fraud Operations using technical knowledge in Financial Crime and Anti-Money Laundering to recommend and deliver strategic and tactical financial crime solutions that keep pace with that change. Managing change positively within the team to ensure full buy in to future vision, direction and goals of stakeholders within the Society will be essential.
It will ensure that operational services for the Society remain fit for purpose and compliant with relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks across Payment Service Regulations, POCA, Money Laundering Regulations, Bribery Act and Immigration Act.
The role involves representing Fraud Operations at management level to ensure that our policy reflects the needs of the Society to minimise fraud risk and to that end ensure that Economic crime as a whole is fully engaged with proposed policy change. This is a leadership role, and it's responsible for a team of Fraud Investigators and Support Officers ensuring that tasks and investigations are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard. It will also ensure Savings processes remain fit for purpose, compliant with relevant statutory requirements and reflect a risk-based approach.
As an SME for Fraud Operations, the role holder be required to provide specialist advice to Head Office departments and Branch Network on matters concerning fraud and other relevant control related matters.
About you

To be successful in this role it's essential you have:
* Current team leadership experience
* Exposure of working in a fraud environment and some investigative experience
* Good understanding and appreciation of Economic Crime
* Experience of delivering high standards of customer service
* Experience of coaching and developing team members
* Evidence of working with stakeholders at all levels, with the ability to persuade and influence
* An ability to interpret and solve complex issues,
* Good communication and strong decision making skills
Desirable experience will be:.
* An understanding of relevant industry codes of practice
* Experience of achieving service, quality levels and agreed SLAs
This is an operational role where you'll be based between home and Coventry (at least 2 days a week) on a hybrid basis. The department operate over Monday to Friday 8am – 8pm, Saturday 9am – 5pm and Sunday 10am – 4pm so flexibility will be required to support your team.
