An exciting opportunity to recruit an Emergency Department Receptionist for the Emergency Care Directorate’s Administration Team at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. The successful candidate will provide efficient receptionist and administrative support to the ED clinical team, working within a busy multi‑disciplinary environment, maintaining strict confidentiality and delivering excellent communication with patients, carers and staff.
Key Responsibilities
 * Provide efficient reception and administration services to the ED department.
 * Actively ensure an effective service is provided and patient satisfaction maximised.
 * Resolve patient queries using professional judgement within own constraints.
 * Maintain strict confidentiality and deal with staff, patients, carers and relatives with courtesy and discretion.
 * Overtime available as required.
Key Requirements
 * Good standard of education, adaptable, excellent organisation and communication skills.
 * Experience in reception/administration, preferably in a health care setting.
 * Knowledge of Welsh Patient Administration System (WPAS) and Symphony desirable.
 * Ability to speak Welsh to a minimum of level 3 (essential).
 * IT computer literacy.
 * Data protection and confidentiality knowledge.
Qualifications
 * Essential: English and Mathematics to GCSE or equivalent experience.
 * Desirable: NVQ Level 3 Customer Care or equivalent qualification or AMSPAR Intermediate Diploma in Medical Reception.
Experience
 * Essential: Previous clerical/office/reception experience and customer service experience.
 * Desirable: Previous NHS experience.
Skills
 * Essential: Welsh speaking, IT computer literacy, effective communication skills.
 * Desirable: Ability to communicate information clearly and sensitively in person and over the phone; general experience of admin functions.
Personal Qualities
 * Team player, works on own initiative.
 * Desirable: Ability to motivate others, organise work within the department.
Knowledge
 * Essential: Data protection and confidentiality.
 * Desirable: Meets all desirable criteria as per attached job description/person specification.
