A Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Business Consultant is a public service faculty position reporting to the Area Director. The person is responsible for providing counseling and delivering programs to individuals, businesses, communities, and organizations in their assigned geographic territory. This charge requires a broad base of business knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
These duties require the integration of business theory and practice, thus necessitating professional development activities.
Multi-county travel is required.

Here is what you will do
* Provide high quality individual instruction and educational support to entrepreneurs, business owners, and managers.
* Analyze situations, make recommendations, and educate clients on business plans, market feasibility, financial viability, operations management, and legal structures.
* Maintain an appropriate level and mix of clients as noted by annual goals and strategic plan objectives.
* Develop and refine a consulting practice that yields impactful results.
* Develop and deliver high quality business training programs responsive to community needs.
* Generate curricula for programs, seminars, conferences, etc.
* Determine topics, agendas, instructors, materials, location, and resources.
* Create and produce instructional materials.
* Serve as an instructor and secure outside instructors as needed.
* Market training programs within communities to meet goals.
* Direct clients to other sources of business information and assistance.
* Disseminate information via various media.
* Serve as a business development advocate and community leader.
* Collaborate with private-sector and government entities to promote economic well-being.
* Engage in public relations activities including speeches, presentations, and committee participation.
* Support strategic planning and organizational improvements.
* Develop and execute action and marketing plans aligned with strategic goals.
* Prepare work plans and participate in organizational activities and projects.
* Seek sponsorships, grants, and co-sponsorships to support programs.
* Document activities accurately and maintain client files per guidelines.
* Provide impact data for SBA reporting.
* Perform responsibilities efficiently, follow policies, and seek continuous improvement.
* Maintain professional relations and represent the Director as required.
Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
Preferred: Master's degree in Business or related field; three years applicable experience.
