About Our Schools
North Lakes Children's Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 7-18. We focus on improving resilience, self-esteem, and abilities in all the young people we work with. Our school proudly holds the Accredited SILVER Award for Attachment and Trauma Sensitive Schools and received an Outstanding rating from Ofsted in 2014.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring our school environments are clean, safe, and welcoming. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Maintaining clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
* Performing cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
* Supervising school cleaning staff.
* Promoting health and safety throughout the schools.
* Handling porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
* Reporting any issues to the Head Teacher and maintaining the general premises.
* Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
* Conducting daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking and waste disposal.
* Ensuring security as the main key holder, locking and unlocking premises as needed.
* Conducting regular checks of security systems and fire safety appliances.
* Advising the Head Teacher on security and safety matters.
* Carrying out health and safety checks and ensuring a safe working environment.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
* Previous caretaking experience in a school environment.
* Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
* Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
* Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
* Ability to work in an environment with SEMH children.
* Full driving license and access to your own car.
* Willingness to travel between both school sites.
