This small and friendly school is a nurturing and inclusive special needs school in Reading, dedicated to supporting children with a range of complex needs, including social, emotional, and mental health challenges. We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join oa ur committed team and make a real difference in the lives of their pupils.
* Primary focus: Pupils with SEMH needs, which may include:
o Emotional regulation challenges
o Behavioural difficulties
o Social interaction issues
* Additional needs often supported:
o Autism Spectrum Conditions
o Learning difficulties
o Pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
* Specialist support includes:
o Tailored interventions based on the Nurture Group Model
o A short-term intervention programme called The Lakes Centre for pupils struggling to engage in mainstream settings due to behavioural and emotional challenges.
* Environment:
o Small school setting with a capacity of around 32 pupils
o Highly supportive and structured learning environment
o Emphasis on emotional and social development
What You'll Do
* Support pupils in their learning, both in and out of the classroom
* Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored educational and emotional support
* Help create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment
* Encourage independence, confidence, and personal development in every child
What We're Looking For
* Experience working with children or young people, especially those with special educational needs (SEN), is desirable but not essential
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A genuine passion for helping children thrive
