Fire & Security Service Engineer North Birmingham / Leicester / Stafford
Crime Prevention Services (CPS) is a family‑run business with over 40 years of experience in the Fire and Security industry. Established in 1982, CPS delivers design, installation, monitoring and maintenance of security and fire systems, supported 24/7 by an in‑house NSI Gold Approved Alarm Receiving Centre.
We are looking for a skilled Fire & Security Service Engineer (also known as Fire and Intruder Alarm Engineer or Electronic Security Systems Engineer) to join our growing team. The role involves installation, maintenance, servicing and repair of fire alarms, CCTV (IP and analogue), intruder alarms and access control systems, along with regular system checks, commissioning and fault‑finding. You will provide outstanding customer service, support our 24/7 monitoring operations, and respond to emergency call‑outs on a rota basis.
Location: North Birmingham, Leicester or Stafford (rotating). Travel within the region is required.
Salary: £25,000–£35,000 (dependent on experience) plus overtime, travel and on‑call allowance. Earning potential: £40,000–£60,000 per annum.

* Role is Monday‑Friday 8:30 am–5:00 pm plus travel.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct routine maintenance, servicing and fault‑finding on electronic fire and security systems.
* Install and commission new fire alarm, CCTV, intruder alarm and access control systems.
* Respond to reactive call‑outs and complete remedial works efficiently.
* Ensure systems comply with relevant British Standards (BS EN) and industry regulations.
* Provide exceptional customer service and clear communication at all times.
* Work independently and collaboratively within a supportive, growing team.
* Participate in the on‑call rota (currently 1 week in 6).
Experience & Skills Required
* Minimum 2 years experience in servicing and maintaining security/intruder alarm systems (e.g. Galaxy, Texecom, Scantronic).
* Experience with CCTV systems (analogue and IP).
* Experience with fire alarm systems (e.g. Advanced, Kentec, Ziton, Menvier, C‑Tec).
* Experience with access‑control systems (e.g. Paxton).
* Experience in installation, commissioning and fault diagnosis.
* Strong electrical/electronic engineering background.
* Good understanding of IP networking and system integration desirable.
* Computer literate (use of PDAs and digital reporting tools).
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Full UK driving licence required.
* Willingness to undergo security screening in line with industry standards.
Desirable Certifications & Qualifications
* FIA or BAFE training/certification.
* ECS/CSCS card.
* Manufacturer training on Galaxy, Texecom, Paxton or Advanced systems.
* Experience with BS5839 / BSEN50131 compliant systems.
